A Pre-Purchase Examination consists of evaluation of any previous medical history and a very comprehensive physical exam performed on a horse both resting and at work to help the “buyer” or “seller” determine the horse’s suitability for its anticipated use. Additional supporting bloodwork, radiographs and other ancillary testing may also be performed at client request. While it is not up to your veterinary team to tell you whether or not you should buy a particular horse, this exam can be a very important tool in assisting a potential buyer in making an informed decision by providing important medical data.
