Veterinarian
Hi! I'm Dr. Linnea Warlick, a veterinarian at Aspen Veterinary Clinic and a proud member of the Flagstaff community since 2020. I am deeply committed to serving the residents and their pets, and I look forward to contributing to the well-being of our community through my work at the clinic.
Originally from New Jersey, I grew up on a farm in horse country, which sparked my lifelong passion for animals. After completing my bachelor's degrees in Biology and Equine Science from Rocky Mountain College in Montana, I earned my veterinary degree from Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Following vet school, I returned east to complete a rotating equine internship at the prestigious Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in New Jersey.
Why I Chose this Profession
My love for animals is at the core of my dedication to veterinary medicine. It began early on our family farm, where I cared for a variety of species and was actively involved in equestrian sports and 4-H. This early exposure fostered my dedication to the human-animal bond. During college, I worked as a veterinary technician in both small animal and mixed animal practices while competing with Rocky Mountain College's ISHA Equestrian team. These experiences solidified my commitment to veterinary medicine.
In veterinary school, I focused on research in Exercise-Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage (EIPH) in thoroughbred racehorses as well as canine neurology. I've had the honor of presenting my research at conferences such as the Calgary International Equine Symposium in Canada and the International Conference on Equine Exercise Physiology (ICEEP) in Australia, and I've authored and contributed to several peer-reviewed journals.
Favorite Part of My Job
Veterinary medicine fuels my passion for learning and teaching. I relish the opportunity to educate clients and mentor future veterinarians. I continually seek out advanced training through continuing education, conferences, and medical journals to provide the most innovative care for my patients.
My primary interests in veterinary medicine include equine medicine, lameness in all species, imaging, and surgery. I find great joy in caring for horses and ensuring their well-being alongside their owners. I take particular satisfaction in managing equine emergencies and performing surgeries for small animals, with a special focus on orthopedics. My advanced training in orthopedic procedures allows me to perform surgeries that might typically require a specialist referral. I particularly enjoy fracture repairs, stifle (knee) surgeries such as Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO), and luxating patella (dislocated kneecap) repairs.
I also have a keen interest in surgical oncology and regenerative therapy, aiming to help animals lead their most comfortable and fulfilling lives. My approach is holistic and evidence-based, striving for excellence in every aspect of veterinary care.
Personal Hobbies & Interests
Outside of the clinic, I love exploring the outdoors with my mini Aussie, Freyja. I'm also dedicated to working with and riding my KWPN gelding, Rumble, whom I acquired in January 2024 as a 2.5-year-old. I plan to compete in dressage and three-day eventing as his training progresses. I also enjoy hitting the trails with my off-the-track thoroughbred, Ruby, whom I adopted in 2017 from a research lab.
In addition to my equestrian pursuits, I enjoy painting, yoga, hiking, traveling, and being a plant enthusiast. I've traveled to 17 countries and hold dual Hungarian and U.S. citizenship. Recently, I've developed a passion for backpacking and love immersing myself in nature.
