Ode To The Founder

Dr. William Conley Westover March 6, 1949 - January 18, 2015

Conley (as he was known by friends and family) was born in Holbrook, Arizona, to Russell and Merle Westover. He was the fourth child in a family of eight children – four girls and four boys.

Conley was raised in Joseph City, where he spent his youth working on his father’s dairy farm. He gained a strong work ethic and a love for animals in that setting. He graduated in 1967 from Holbrook High School and completed his undergraduate studies at Ricks College, Eastern Arizona College, and Northern Arizona University. In 1974, he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado. After completing his education, he practiced for a year in Payson, Arizona. He and his wife then moved to Flagstaff and established Aspen Veterinary Clinic where he dedicated his life to the care of animals – large and small.

While gaining his education in Colorado, Conley married Nancy Frycek in July of 1971. They have been married for forty-three years and have two beautiful daughters – Becky and Jody, and three granddaughters – Aubrey, Ellie, and Kamry.

Conley loved to learn and continued his education throughout his life. He was able to develop and pursue many skills and interests in his veterinary practice and mentored many associates over the years. He was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, The Arizona Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, and an affiliate member of the American Animal Hospital Association.

Conley was also involved in serving in many leadership and teaching responsibilities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Any spare time he had was spent with his family and in maintaining and beautifying his home and property. He was especially fond of his John Deere tractor.

Conley was preceded in death by his father, mother, and youngest sister, Alisa Childers. He is survived by his wife Nancy, two daughters and their spouses, Becky (John) Cain and Jody (Aaron) Huish, as well as their three granddaughters. He is also survived by six siblings, Analee Hunsaker, Boyd Westover, Gloria Murphy, Carolyn Goodman, Neil Westover, Larry Westover and many extended family members. Dr. Westover will be greatly missed by an extended family of friends from his veterinary practice including associates, clients and their beloved animals.
